We have previously discussed about the different screen size available out there, and how to optimize your website for better experience on smartphones and Tablets. Since the evolution of the internet and the advancement in display technology, the number of pixels has been increasing, from the small VGA display to the current ultra-HD 2048 x 1600 display. So webmasters have been trying forever to make use of the high resolutions and to return better value to the users. This calls for a redesigning of most major aspects of a site. Fortunately, Google AdSense team is here to help in the process. On popular demand, it has just announced a new ad size of 300 x 600 for webmasters who use AdSense. And that is the largest skyscraper ever that will surely boost your overall AdSense earning by increasing the click through rate (CTR) of all your pages.
So, Google PageRank has been updated again this week, just as expected. And so far, the update does not seem to be a major one - but then again, give it some time. The last update took place in August 2012, and the one before that on May 2012. So it's pretty obvious that Google is now rolling out these updates quarterly, i.e. after every three months. So the next update is expected in the first 10 days of February 2013. We congratulate everyone whose PR didn't drop. And for those whose did, there's a few things you can do which we will mention. Google is always constantly trying to expand its influence by introducing new features, while trying at the same time to improve upon those of its products that are popular. Hence we've seen a plethora of new tools and features being introduced across the Google-sphere in the recent past. And yesterday, we were talking about this same thing that why Google cuts down on some of its products to give more space to its existing products. So the U.S presidential race is a full swing, and expectations are high as the election day arrives. Different people have different ways of keeping track of the race, and so do many websites which provide varying data on who has the most support. But every term (four years), more and more people are looking for reliable sources of information on the voting process and their ballots. Google has now made this incredibly easy, and searching for such information is no longer a hitch. It has launched a Voter Information Tool that will help voters stay updated about the elections.

Have you heard about the DropBox Space Race? No, it isn't the moon related thingy. Rather, it's perhaps more exciting to those of us who're more into the web and 'the cloud' and stuff. The Space Race is a new initiative by DropBox, encouraging students to use their school/college email addresses, and get more space out of their DropBox accounts! You can sign up, or connect your college email address with your current account, and instantly get 3 GB of space! So if you have an email address that ends in .edu (eg, yourname@domain.edu), then you might as well use it to earn more space!

Whenever I find an opportunity to convey the message to young talented students, I never miss jumping inside the public academic pool. On 6th October, 2012, the Media Marketing and Management Team at Greenwich University (located in defence Karachi) organized "The Social Affair 2012" event. The event aimed at celebrating the viral spread of social media websites locally and how it has helped individuals in different ways. Around six professionals from different IT fields were invited to share their precious experiences with the students. I was fortunately one of the invited Guest Speakers for the evening and the topic I chose was "Make Money Online From your Living Room". It turned out to be one of the most memorable events of my life with tons of warm feedback and appreciation from everywhere. The hospitality I received from the organizers, faculty members and enthusiastic young students can't simply be thanked enough. I would like to give some highlights of the great experience I had that day.
The FeedCount chicklet by feedburner and their main site is showing and displaying zero subscriber count for all registered users since 19th
September 2012. According to Feedburner Status Blog, the maintenance team is encountering
some serious problems with their stats production pipeline. Due to which the
Feedcount has gone zero instead of showing the correct number for current RSS
FEED readers and Email subscribers. The problem exists even when you log into
your account and check the Feed Stats Dashboard. The dashboard shows zero "0" subscribers with zero reachability. The chart below shows a
deep drop in our Feedcount from over 11.5K Readers to Zero, which is surely
weird. However the Feed Clicks and Views data function just fine.
One of the best things about online cloud storage is, it is amazingly convenient and an effective way of storing and sharing your files. But the problem nowadays is, there are so many cloud services available that it becomes difficult to manage your content, since different services have their own pros and cons. So while I use SkyDrive for large files and Google Drive for documents and photos etc, I use DropBox for quickly sharing files with others. Managing all these services is a bit of a drag. Wouldn't it just be easier if there was a unified platform where you could manage everything 'under one roof'? If you have been following news from the cloud industry, you might be familiar with the recent exploits at Dropbox. The cloud storage giant faced some inconvenience at the hands of some hackers who got into the service. Ever since, they have tightened the loopholes and implemented some security measures. But despite all efforts, the safety of user data still largely lies in the hands of users, since that's where a hacker seeking sensitive information will strike. It would perhaps be best to enable 2-step verification for your Dropbox account, so as to prevent un-authorized access to your sensitive and private information.

It is generally accepted that acknowledging "I have read, and agree to the terms of services..." is the biggest lie on the internet. I don't read them, and you don't read them (most probably). Nobody reads them, and you know it, even if most people won't admit it just to sound smart. Even the companies who write them know it. Well, I don't blame them. The fact of the matter is, most ToS are freakishly long, and heavily laden with legal jargon only lawyers are supposed to understand. Some ToS are just plain ridiculous. Well, now there's a service, TOS-DR, that intends to end this rule of ignorance by bringing some companies' (like Facebook, Twitter, Skype etc) ToS closer to the layman user's level of comprehension.
As many of you might already know, Bitly is the largest Link Shortening service. In fact, it is the one responsible for ushering the world into the concept of short links four years ago. Since then, it has been extensively been used to replace long URLs into a collection of just a few characters, which can be easily shared on social media such as Facebook and Twitter. It came is handy especially for twitter, where there is a character limit on tweets. Well now, after almost four years, Bitly has finally collected enough data to create a whole new search engine of its own! Bitly calls it "Real-time", and describes it as an "Attention Ranking" Search Engine. Although still in its beta phase, it has been rolled out to the public. It can be accessed at http://rt.ly.
Well there comes just a new update on Google's Page popularity algo on 2nd August 2012. The PageRank toolbar has started showing new ranks for all websites worldwide. The update this time seems a major one and there could be no further expectation of any new changes within the next 24 hours. The last update was on May 3rd and third last was on February 6th. The duration gap has now become constant. Google rolls out these updates quarterly, after every three months. The next update and last update of this year is expected anytime between November 1-10 2012. PageRank as you all know is a numerical weighting scale between 0-10. Websites that are recommended by related niches via backlinks rank higher on PR scale and get the benefit of faster crawl and index rate. Blogs with higher PR are crawled faster compared to those with lower PageRank. For example a PR 7 webpage is crawled several times per minute compared to a PR 5 page that is crawled once every minute. The faster the robot crawls your pages the greater the chances for you to drive organic traffic from Google and build readership. 
Facebook Pages are a great way to promote a brand, and pull traffic to a website. They offer many marketing features, such as targeting a specific audience, learning about insights and analytics, promoting your content, and more. Well now, Facebook has announced in a blog post, that it has introduced some new features to further assist marketers to better promote their content and draw more traffic. These new features include scheduling posts, unpublished page posts, and updated page admin permissions for third-party apps. These new features come as Facebook continues its stream of changes after a survey, that rated Facebook disappointingly low in terms of customer satisfaction.

Facebook might now be facing a grim reality after a latest survey by the American Customer Satisfaction Index (ACSI), which revealed that Facebook users are not satisfied with the happenings at the social network lately. More worrisome for Facebook is the fact that while its customer satisfaction is plummeting downwards, its rival network, Google Plus, is catching up fast! Not only that, other social networks like Twitter and LinkedIn have overtaken it as well with respect to customer satisfaction. To make matters worse, Facebook hasn't made much of a mark ever since its IPO and its first quarterly earnings as a public company. So what does this mean? Has Google Plus finally found the opening it has been looking for, or has Facebook yet to see the worst?

Google-Perhaps the biggest name in the internet world that has always been a subject of controversy, has now again bombarded the iGoogle Followers with the news of its end. There are possibilities that most of you might not know or use iGoogle and therefore, its end will not going to affect you anyway; there are still its old followers who are finding this action unnecessary. According to the latest reveal on Google Blog, iGoogle will no longer be available from November, 2013 onwards as Google is keen to analyze that it is no more a source to increase its productivity in any sense.
